Artist of the Issue: Isabella Zohreh

By Benjamin Craig

Nestled amidst the bustle of campus life is Isabella Zohreh, sophomore of Trinity College. She was introduced to me through The Mill in pursuit of this project. Although, I had met her once or twice before. Isabella takes a multifaceted approach to the arts, which comes naturally for her. It became evident quickly that Isabella’s passion for storytelling transcends a mere hobby; it is her way of life, navigating the complexities of existence. Discussing her artistic accomplishments, I decided to focus on her poetry for this edition Artist of the Issue. For her, poetry quickens the raw emotion of experience into a stream of consciousness laid bare on the page. Every space and every etched line of dialogue points to the center of a woven thread. I was captured by the form of her poetry— the way her words tangled between each unique expression, painting a broader picture of the artist with every page. Isabella does not hide behind her feelings; rather, she takes them and transforms them into something bearable. The following is her poem, shared with The Summiter: “did we win?”
